We’re swirling up lipstick pigments! One of Samantha Rei’s new lipsticks (debuting on the runway at Vancouver Fashion Week) is “Midnighter.” The shade is a pastel violet/purple shade with a greyish undertone instead of the typical blue undertone.

When designing this shade, Samantha wanted to reflect the monochromatic nature of her id.ego collection, cathartically inspired by a bout of deep depression. The greyish undertones of this lip color are not only gothic and impeccably on trend, but also had another reason for being: Deeper skin tones.

Samantha wanted a pastel purple shade that would be flattering on darker skinned women, and ‘Midnighter’ is perfect for the job. We were pleasantly surprised to see that a lot of different skin tones can wear this gothy shade. This is not your standard lavender lipstick (and nothing like our old shade Violetta!)
